Question:

Availability in the catalog

The item is supposed to be on the shelf according to the catalog but when I looked for the item it was not there.

Answer:

Bibliocommons basically takes a snapshot of Symphony and because of this the new catalog does not always have the most up to date information.

Basically there are different "crawlers" that work to find information in Symphony at varying times therefore the availability in the new catalog will not always display real time information via the Available Now filter location on the left side of a search results page:

 

Availability will be accurate via the Item details under the View details link next to Available:

Please rely on Symphony as the most accurate and reliable way to find availability information.
