The first step is make sure that the Library has your correct email address.  By going to your Online Account, you can see what email address the Library is using and if you need to, you can update it there as well.

If your email address is correct, the most likely problem is that the your email provider is treating Library notifications as spam.  Sometimes you can catch this by checking your spam folder, but sometimes they won't show up at all.  To ensure Library notices are not being blocked as spam, you can try the following:

  1. check your spam/junk folder, if a notice is in your spam folder there should be a way to let your email program know that the email is not spam
  2. add SanAntonioPublicLibrary@sanantonio.gov as a contact in your email program
  3. add the Library as a safe sender or add it to your whitelist - how this is done varies based on email provider but is the most effective method

Here are a few of the ways the third option is done.

Outlook, Hotmail, and Live Mail:

How to Manually add an Email Address to Your Safe Sender List:

If an existing email from the sender hasn't already been trapped in your junk folder, you can manually add him to your Safe List. Click on "Options" in the upper right corner of your Hotmail screen, then click the link for "Safe and Blocked Senders" in the body of the page under Junk e-mail. Click the "Safe Senders" link and enter the email address you want to white list. Click "Add" to put it on your list.

Gmail (Google Mail):

  1. Click gear icon on the right top side of Gmail window.
  2. From the drop down menu, select “Settings.”
  3. Across the top of the screen should now be a list of tabs.  Select "Filters and Blocked Addresses."
  4. At the bottom of the filters display, select the link "Create a new filter."
  5. In the create filter window that appears, add SanAntonioPublicLibrary@sanantonio.gov to the "From" field.
  6. Click the link "Create filter with this search" at the bottom of the filter window.  You may be asked to save changes.  Click "Yes" to save changes.
  7. Select the checkbox that says "Never send it to Spam."
  8. Click the "Create filter" button.
