If you have requested an item, but you want to delay when it is ready to be picked up, you can pause the hold on that item. For example, if you are going on vacation and don't want to miss getting your requested items, you can pause them before you leave and set them to resume at a later date.

To Pause a hold on an item:

  • Sign in to My Account
  • Click "On Hold" to view your items on hold
  • Select the "•••" to the left of the hold you wish to pause.
  • Click "Pause hold" in the options menu.
  • Select a date to Begin and a date to End the pause; and then click on "Yes, Pause hold" to confirm, or "No, go back" if you changed your mind, or selected "Pause hold" in error.
  • A confirmation message will appear at the bottom of the screen if the Pause hold is successful, the item will now display a "Paused" status highlighted in blue.

To Resume a hold on an item:

  • Sign in to My Account
  • Click "On Hold" to view your items on hold
  • Select the "•••" to the left of the hold you wish to resume.
  • Click "Resume hold" in the options menu
  • A confirmation message will appear on the bottom of the screen if the Resume hold is successful. The item will now display the "Not Ready" status highlighted in gray.

To Pause/Resume multiple or all items:

  • Sign in to My Account
  • Click "On Hold" to view your items on hold
  • Click the check box to the right of the items you wish to Pause/Resume, or click "Select X Items" above the list of holds for all items. A "Manage Items" option will appear at the bottom of the screen.
  • Click "Manage Items" and select "Pause holds" or "Resume holds", depending on which action you wish to perform.
  • You will be taken to a page to confirm you selection. REMINDER: If you choose to Pause multiple/all holds you will need to define a Start and End date for the duration of the pause.
  • Choose "Yes, Pause holds" or "Yes, Resume holds" depending on which action you wish to perform; or choose "No, go back" if you changed your mind. Your holds will now display as either "Paused" or "Not Ready" depending on which action you selected.

Please be aware that pausing your requests keeps your place in line. If you pause many items for an extended period of time and then resume them all at once, it is possible you may receive all of those items at the same time.
